Prime Minister Narendra Modi took an aerial survey of the devastation caused by Super Cyclone Amphan in West Bengal and Odisha. After taking stock of the worst affected districts, the PM has announced an immediate assistance of Rs 1000 crore to West Bengal. Amphan has caused massive destruction in West Bengal. Due to this, 72 people died.

This is Prime Minister's first visit outside the country's capital, Delhi, in a span of about three months. Due to the coronavirus epidemic and the ongoing lockdown in the country, PM remained in Delhi during this time.
