PM Modi Sets the Record Straight with Trump on Operation Sindoor and India’s Stand on Terrorism

ABP News Bureau   |  18 Jun 2025 12:47 PM (IST)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a 35-minute phone call with former U.S. President Donald Trump amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, where he clearly conveyed India’s strong and independent stance. During the conversation, PM Modi clarified that India had not accepted any mediation—neither in the past nor at present—and that no discussions on trade took place in exchange for halting military operations. He emphasized that the temporary pause in Operation Sindoor was purely in response to a request from Pakistan’s military leadership, made after India inflicted heavy damage on Pakistani military assets, especially their airbases. Modi firmly told Trump that Operation Sindoor is still ongoing and India remains committed to eliminating terrorism. He also warned that any future proxy terrorist attack from Pakistan would be seen as an act of war and not merely terrorism. India would respond with full force if provoked. PM Modi’s message was that India’s national security decisions are not influenced by external powers and that it remains fully capable of defending itself. This conversation served not only as a clear rebuttal to Trump's earlier claims of mediation but also as a strong message to the international community and India’s domestic critics—India acts on its own terms and stands firm against terrorism.
