The landslides affected Mepadi, Mundakkai Town, and Chooral Mala. Reports suggest 49 fatalities due to the landslides, though the district administration has confirmed four deaths, including a child. Around 50 injured individuals have been hospitalized. The first landslide struck Mundakkai Town around 1 AM during the heavy rain, and while rescue efforts were ongoing there, a second landslide occurred near a school in Chooral Mala around 4 AM. The landslide filled nearby homes and shops with water and mud. Rescue operations are ongoing to manage the aftermath and assist the affected residents.
