PM Modi Reviews Wayanad Landslide, Kharge Raises Issue In Rajya Sabha | ABP News

ABP News Bureau   |  30 Jul 2024 01:23 PM (IST)

In Kerala's Wayanad district, heavy rainfall triggered a landslide early on July 30, with fears that hundreds may be trapped. The landslides affected Mepadi, Mundakkai Town, and Chooral Mala. Reports suggest 49 fatalities due to the landslides, though the district administration has confirmed four deaths, including a child. Around 50 injured individuals have been hospitalized. The first landslide struck Mundakkai Town around 1 AM during the heavy rain, and while rescue efforts were ongoing there, a second landslide occurred near a school in Chooral Mala around 4 AM. The landslide filled nearby homes and shops with water and mud. Rescue operations are ongoing to manage the aftermath and assist the affected residents.
