PM Modi Clears Confusion: No Mediation Accepted, India Will Decide Its Response to Terror Alone

ABP News Bureau   |  18 Jun 2025 12:56 PM (IST)

In a significant diplomatic moment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 35-minute phone conversation with former U.S. President Donald Trump has firmly dispelled any confusion regarding India’s stance on mediation in the India-Pakistan conflict. Modi categorically stated that India never accepted any form of third-party mediation, including suggestions of a trade-linked ceasefire pushed by the U.S. government. He clarified that the ceasefire happened only after Pakistan's military pleaded through established military communication channels, following the intense damage inflicted by India during Operation Sindoor.PM Modi made it clear that India’s response to terrorism would be decisive and forceful, and any future attack from Pakistani soil would be considered an act of war. He asserted that India reserves the right to act independently and will not tolerate external pressure or interference, reinforcing the nation’s sovereign and uncompromising approach to national security.Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized that there is complete political consensus in India on rejecting mediation. Former diplomat Suresh Goel noted the geopolitical backdrop of this conversation, including Trump’s hasty return to Washington amid rising tensions in the Middle East. The message from Modi was unmistakable—India will defend itself on its terms, and no global power, including the U.S., can dictate its actions.
