PM Kisan Crop Insurance Scheme Expanded; Farmers To Get Relief For Wildlife Damage And Disasters

ABP News Bureau   |  21 Nov 2025 12:40 PM (IST)

A major announcement has been made regarding the PM Kisan Fasal Bima Yojana as the central government has expanded its scope to provide wider protection to farmers. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan informed that two additional categories of crop loss have now been brought under the insurance cover, significantly strengthening the support available to cultivators across the country. Under the revised scheme, farmers will now receive compensation for crop damage caused by wild animals—an issue that has been causing concern in several rural regions. Until now, losses due to wildlife attacks were often left uncompensated, putting a heavy financial burden on farmers. With the new inclusion, such damages will now be covered under the official insurance mechanism. Additionally, compensation will also be provided for losses resulting from natural disasters. Events such as heavy rainfall, storms, floods, droughts, and other extreme climatic conditions will now fall within the claimable categories. This expansion aims to offer greater financial security and stability to farmers facing unpredictable environmental challenges. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving the expansion of the scheme. He emphasized that the move will empower farmers, reduce economic stress, and ensure timely relief during crises.
