On the night of 29–30 August, there was a clash with the Chinese army south of Pangong Lake. Chinese soldiers tried to enter the Indian border but the Indian Army thwarted it. Chinese troops had to retreat. On 31 August, there was a brigade level meeting between India and China in Chushul. This meeting between the two countries did not yield any result.
