JPSC-JSSC Row: Students Invited With Legal Experts for Talks

The student movement in Jharkhand against alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations has entered its 24th day. A crucial meeting between the state government and representatives of the protesting students is scheduled for today at around 2 PM at the State Guest House in Ranchi. The government has invited the students to attend the discussion along with their legal experts, with the aim of finding a solution to the examination-related dispute. The previous round of talks took place on August 9 but ended without an agreement as students remained firm on their demands. Officials reportedly met students yesterday and renewed the offer for negotiations. The students had given the government a deadline of August 18, warning that they would surround the Chief Minister’s residence on August 20 if their demands were not accepted. The students remain cautious about the government’s intentions and are questioning whether it is genuinely serious about resolving the issue. Meanwhile, political leaders have exchanged allegations over the handling of the agitation. The government has expressed hope that today’s talks will be constructive and help address the students’ concerns and improve the examination system.
