Janhit: During Varanasi Visit, PM Modi Urges Citizens to Choose Swadeshi Over Foreign Goods
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his 51st visit to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi, made a powerful appeal for Swadeshi (indigenous goods) and self-reliance. Addressing a public gathering, Modi called on citizens to adopt the mantra "Vocal for Local" and support products made by Indian hands. This appeal comes amid rising trade tensions with the US and longstanding border disputes with China. Without naming any country, Modi emphasized reducing dependency on foreign goods, urging Indian retailers to sell only local products during global instability. He outlined four key points: support local products, encourage Make in India, buy only Swadeshi for household needs, and promote Indian goods in domestic markets. The PM also referenced Operation Sindoor, a recent military strike that used indigenous BrahMos missiles to destroy terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. Modi criticized the opposition, particularly Congress and Samajwadi Party, for questioning the operation, accusing them of insulting the military’s bravery. Experts highlighted the strategic importance of Modi’s Swadeshi call in asserting India’s economic sovereignty and global standing.
