Independence Day 2025: PM Modi Highlights Tech and Energy Revolution for a Developed India | ABP NEWS

ABP News Bureau   |  15 Aug 2025 12:56 PM (IST)

On the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the Red Fort, emphasizing India’s rapid progress in technology and clean energy. Calling the 21st century a “technology-driven century,” he reflected on missed opportunities in the past, especially in the semiconductor sector. “50–60 years ago, the idea of semiconductor manufacturing was born in India, but the file got stuck. That vision was never realized,” he said. Now, in mission mode, India is setting up six semiconductor units, with four more approved. PM Modi announced that by the end of 2025, Made-in-India semiconductor chips will enter global markets. In the energy sector, he highlighted India’s push for self-reliance. Over the past 11 years, solar energy capacity has grown 30 times. India is also heavily investing in hydropower, green hydrogen, and nuclear energy. Ten new nuclear reactors are under development, with a goal to increase nuclear capacity over tenfold by 2047, marking 100 years of independence. In a historic reform, the nuclear energy sector has now been opened to private players, signaling a bold step toward innovation and investment.
