Independence Day 2025: PM Modi Calls for Technological Self-Reliance, Challenges Youth to Build India's Future
On the occasion of Independence Day 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful speech emphasizing technological self-reliance, innovation, and entrepreneurship as the pillars of a developed India. Speaking from the Red Fort, PM Modi highlighted the dominance of India’s UPI system, stating that nearly 50% of global real-time transactions now occur through UPI—proving India's capability in digital innovation. He challenged India's youth to build indigenous platforms in areas like social media, deep tech, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, and questioned why India should remain dependent on foreign tech giants. Modi stressed the importance of creating domestic solutions for fertilizers, electric vehicle batteries, and solar panel production, urging private sector involvement. Citing India’s swift development of its own COVID-19 vaccine and CoWIN platform as examples of self-reliance, he encouraged innovation in startups, manufacturing, and exports. He praised women-led self-help groups and lauded India’s growing success in toy exports. Calling on the youth to bring forward their innovative ideas, PM Modi promised full support from the government and himself personally, stating: “Today’s idea can become tomorrow’s revolution.”
