Independence Day 2024: Country Needs Secular Civil Code, Not Communal, Says PM Modi From Red Fort | ABP News

ABP News Bureau   |  15 Aug 2024 11:20 AM (IST)

With slogans like "Sarfaroshi ki Tamanna ab hamare dil mein hai, dekhna hai zor kitna, baju-e-qatil mein hai," and many other passionate chants and songs, the brave sons of Mother India fought against British rule and sacrificed their lives for freedom. It was through these sacrifices that we gained independence from British rule on August 15, 1947. Addressing the nation from the Red Fort on the occasion of India's 78th Independence Day, PM Modi said that the dreams of the people had not been fulfilled. When we were given responsibility, we made significant reforms. We chose reform for change. We do not reform for applause. We reform not out of compulsion but to strengthen the nation. We do not carry out reforms for politics. Our sole objective is "Nation First," meaning the nation's interests are supreme. Every step we take is with the resolve to make India great. In his address, PM Modi also mentioned the violence in Bangladesh. He stated that it is natural for India, as a neighboring country, to be concerned about what happened in Bangladesh. He expressed hope that the situation there would return to normal soon.
