How Priyanka's Speech on Sambhal and Caste Census Differed from Rahul's, Watch Report

ABP News Bureau   |  16 Dec 2024 10:03 AM (IST)

The Rajya Sabha will begin a two-day discussion on the Constitution today, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman from the ruling party starting the debate. On the opposition side, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will lead the discussions. This follows a similar debate in the Lok Sabha on December 13 and 14, where several prominent leaders participated. Among them, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi delivered a speech, targeting the government and also criticizing the RSS. Rahul Gandhi also took part, using references to the Manusmriti and Vinayak Damodar Savarkar to attack the central government, questioning its policies and ideologies. The debate in the Lok Sabha raised significant questions about the government's stance on the Constitution and its interpretation. Priyanka Gandhi's speech was particularly pointed, accusing the government of undermining democratic principles. Rahul Gandhi, too, used historical references to draw a sharp contrast between the ruling party's views and the constitutional values. Now, attention turns to how these discussions will unfold in the Rajya Sabha. What stands out from the speeches in the Lok Sabha is the sharp rhetoric and the political implications behind the constitutional discourse. Leaders from the India Alliance and NDA are already responding to each other’s remarks, with both sides framing the debate as a critical reflection of the current political and ideological divide in India. The outcome of this debate could influence the political narrative going forward.
