ABP News Bureau   |  21 Aug 2025 11:59 AM (IST)

After Mumbai’s torrential rains, Gujarat is now facing a severe weather crisis with heavy rainfall lashing several districts. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in Dwarka, while orange alerts have been declared in Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan, Morbi, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Rajkot, Junagadh, Surat, Navsari, and Valsad. Continuous downpours have disrupted normal life, creating flood-like conditions in multiple regions. In Navsari district, more than six inches of rain were recorded within hours, leading to waterlogging and closure of nearly 80 roads. Authorities reported that in Banaskantha, the Ojjat river embankment gave way due to rising water levels, further worsening the situation. Disturbing visuals show houses, markets, and roads submerged, with locals struggling to move to safer ground.District administrations in Junagadh, Gandhinagar, and Dwarka have deployed disaster response teams for evacuation and relief. Schools and offices in the most affected areas remain shut, while state officials have appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel. The government is monitoring the situation closely as rivers continue to swell. With rainfall expected to continue, the administration has prepared relief camps and emergency shelters to ensure safety of those displaced.
