ABP News Bureau   |  12 May 2025 01:13 PM (IST)

During ABP Network’s India @ 2047 Summit, India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir addressed several critical questions regarding his relationship with star players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, and the team’s future. Responding to whether he would ensure a proper farewell for legends like Kohli and Sharma, Gambhir emphasized that farewells aren’t as important as players’ contributions to the nation. He said love from fans is the greatest reward. On speculation about internal rifts, especially with Rohit, Gambhir strongly dismissed it as "TRP-driven narratives" spread by YouTubers and so-called experts. He clarified that he deeply respects Rohit Sharma as a person and cricketer and has always shared a good rapport with him.About his relationship with Virat Kohli, Gambhir affirmed that they were, are, and will remain friends. He criticized journalists who speculated on their IPL clash without proper research and said personal relationships shouldn’t be judged by on-field events. When asked why BCCI was putting out bonding reels between him and Kohli, he said only the BCCI could answer that. However, if it creates confusion, he’s fine asking them to stop. Gambhir concluded by saying that off-field relationships aren’t for public judgment and that everyone’s goal, including his, is national victory.
