In Bokaro, Jharkhand, a massive fire broke out, engulfing 66 firecracker shops and causing significant damage. In Delhi, two people sustained burn injuries due to fire-related accidents. Tragedy also struck in Andhra Pradesh, where one person lost their life due to a similar incident. Despite a ban on firecrackers, residents in Delhi enthusiastically burst crackers, filling the night with vibrant colors and loud explosions. However, the extensive firework displays had a severe impact on the air quality in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). As a result, the air quality index (AQI) soared well beyond safe levels, with several areas reporting AQI readings above 350, indicating hazardous pollution levels. The high AQI reflects dangerous levels of pollutants, posing health risks, particularly for sensitive groups such as children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions.
