Delhi Metro Alert: 16 Stations Shut Amid Security Concerns, Entry and Exit Restricted

ABP News

Delhi Metro has temporarily closed 16 stations in the national capital as a precautionary measure following heightened security concerns. The decision affects several key stations in central Delhi, including Rajiv Chowk, Janpath, Patel Chowk, and Central Secretariat, where both entry and exit have been restricted. The move comes after authorities reviewed the security situation amid ongoing protests and reports of clashes involving protesters and security personnel. Officials have taken the step to prevent any untoward incident and ensure the safety of commuters in sensitive areas near major government locations. Several important stations around central Delhi and the Parliament area are included in the list of affected stations. These include Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, and Shivaji Stadium, among others. Passengers travelling through these routes have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and check updates before heading towards central Delhi. While trains may continue operating through these routes, commuters will not be allowed to enter or exit from the closed stations until further notice. The security restrictions have been imposed as authorities remain on alert following recent protest-related developments in the capital. Security agencies are monitoring the situation closely and further decisions regarding reopening of the stations will be taken after assessing the law-and-order situation.
