Delhi and NCR Struck by Sudden Monsoon Storms, Leading to Waterlogging and Traffic Chaos

ABP News Bureau   |  25 May 2025 12:11 PM (IST)

Yesterday, as the monsoon season officially began in Kerala, Delhi and NCR experienced heavy winds, rain, and thunderstorms from late night into the early morning, disrupting daily life. While the rain provided some relief from the intense heat, it also caused severe waterlogging across several areas like Minto Road, Dholakuva, Dwarka, and Ring Road, leading to major traffic disruptions. Vehicles crawled at a slow pace due to flooded streets, turning a usual 20-25 minute commute into an hour-long ordeal. The city’s drainage system struggled to cope with the sudden downpour, leading to road closures, especially in underpasses like Dholakuva. Though the rain brought a welcome break from the heat, it exacerbated commuting difficulties and exposed the need for better infrastructure to handle such storms.
