Court Refuses to Take Cognisance of ED Chargesheet, Big Relief for Sonia and Rahul Gandhi

In a significant development, a Delhi court has refused to take cognisance of the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) chargesheet, providing major relief to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. The court observed that since the case originated from a private complaint, legal grounds were insufficient to take cognisance at this stage. However, the court clarified that the ED is free to continue its investigation if it chooses to proceed lawfully. Congress leaders welcomed the decision, calling it a vindication of their long-standing claim that the case was politically motivated. The opposition accused the central government of misusing investigative agencies to harass political rivals. The ruling has intensified political reactions, with the Congress asserting that “truth has prevailed,” while the BJP said it would study the full court order before responding.
