Controversy Erupts Over Yogi Govt's Directive On Kanwar Yatra In UP | ABP News

ABP News Bureau   |  19 Jul 2024 02:07 PM (IST)

The Uttar Pradesh Police has issued a new order regarding the Kanwar Yatra. According to this order, the owner of every food shop or cart along the Kanwar Yatra route must display their name on a board. This measure is intended to ensure that kanwariyas do not inadvertently purchase items from Muslim-owned shops.

The decision has been made to avoid any confusion among the kanwariyas, prevent accusations, and maintain law and order. The directive has been issued with the expectation that everyone will comply voluntarily. The number of people criticising the UP Police's order to display shop owners' names during the Kanwar Yatra is increasing. Following opposition from SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav and BSP Supremo Mayawati, senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has also voiced his disapproval.
