Breaking News: Noida Engineer Death Case: Eyewitness Changes Statement

ABP News Bureau   |  21 Jan 2026 12:02 PM (IST)

The death of software engineer Yuvraj Mehta in Noida has taken a dramatic turn after a key eyewitness allegedly changed his statement, raising serious questions about the investigation and administrative accountability. According to a video shared by AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj, the eyewitness initially claimed that Yuvraj remained alive for nearly 1.5 to 2 hours after his car fell into a water-filled pit and that rescue efforts were delayed. However, the witness has now revised his version, appearing to defend the administration’s response, even as visuals from the site continue to highlight glaring lapses. The incident occurred in Noida Sector 150, where a damaged drain and poor safety arrangements reportedly led to the fatal accident. Shockingly, a similar truck accident had taken place at the same location 15 days earlier, but authorities allegedly failed to repair the site or install warning signs. The case has now sparked political reactions, with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticizing systemic negligence and calling the incident a result of declining urban governance. An SIT has been formed to investigate the matter, and four officials are reportedly under scrutiny. The SIT is expected to submit its report to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath within five days.
