The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) of India has successfully tested a laser-based weapon system, targeting fixed-wing aircraft, missiles, and subsonic drones. This achievement places India among a select group of countries, including the USA, China, and Russia, which possess such advanced laser weapon systems. Following the test, DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V Kamat remarked that this is just the beginning, emphasizing the need for further development in laser technology. He expressed confidence that India would soon reach its goal in this field. In addition to the laser weapon breakthrough, DRDO has also hinted at working on the Aero Engine Technology Project, marking another significant step in India's defense technology advancements.
