Breaking News: Cloudburst Triggers Devastating Flash Floods in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh | ABP NEWS
In a tragic turn of events, a cloudburst struck Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh early this morning, causing flash floods that wreaked havoc across the region. The cloudburst occurred in two locations, triggering a torrent of water that swept through streets and homes with terrifying force. The worst-hit area was Jail Road in Mandi town, where several residents were trapped inside homes and had to be rescued through windows, doors, and even ventilation openings. A woman was pulled out from her home through a window, while multiple people narrowly escaped as water surged like a river through their neighborhoods. Debris and mud clogged streets, homes, and vehicles, making rescue operations difficult. Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and chaos as residents ran for their lives. Local reports suggest three individuals were swept away while trying to move their vehicles to safer ground. Over a dozen vehicles were severely damaged. The destruction has raised serious concerns about preparedness for such frequent natural disasters. Since the onset of the monsoon, Himachal Pradesh has witnessed 170 deaths and 278 injuries due to floods, heavy rainfall, and cloudbursts.
