Breaking: Chirag Paswan Stands Firm On Minimum 36 Seats, NDA Seat-Sharing Tensions Escalate

ABP News Bureau   |  08 Oct 2025 12:25 PM (IST)

Chirag Paswan, leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), has made it clear that his party will not accept fewer than 36 seats in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, intensifying seat-sharing tensions within the NDA. Sources indicate that Paswan recently met senior BJP leaders Dharmendra Pradhan and Vinod Tawde to discuss the matter. LJP insiders state that while the BJP has offered 30 seats based on a Lok Sabha-to-Assembly formula, Paswan insists on at least 36, refusing any compromise below this number. The party has also confirmed that it does not seek any Rajya Sabha seats this time, focusing solely on Assembly constituencies. In the previous election, Paswan’s strategic decisions had impacted JD(U)’s performance, but this time he remains aligned with the NDA while asserting his demands firmly. The BJP’s election chiefs, including Dharmendra Pradhan and Vinod Tawde, have arrived in Patna to hold high-level discussions with LJP representatives. Observers say this stand-off underscores the growing assertiveness of regional parties and the delicate balancing act required in coalition politics. As negotiations continue, the final seat allocation will play a critical role in determining NDA’s electoral strategy and cohesion ahead of the Bihar polls.
