Bihar Election Violence: Tension Escalates in Mokama After Dular Chand Yadav Murder, Police on High Alert

ABP News Bureau   |  31 Oct 2025 02:31 PM (IST)

The murder of political worker Dular Chand Yadav in Bihar’s Mokama has intensified political tension just days before the state assembly elections. The incident occurred amid a heated rivalry between two powerful figures Anant Singh and the Jan Suraaj camp. Police have now turned the region into a security fortress, with Yadav’s body taken to the Baadh government hospital for post-mortem. According to reports, a case has been registered against Anant Singh and two of his associates based on the victim’s grandson’s statement, while Anant Singh has also filed a counter-FIR accusing Jan Suraaj candidate Piyush Pridershi’s supporters of attempting to attack him. Meanwhile, Suraj Bhan Singh, whom Anant Singh accused of masterminding the murder, has demanded a judicial inquiry by the Election Commission. The murder has sparked a fierce political blame game, RJD and Jan Suraaj have accused the government of complete law-and-order failure, while the ruling alliance defends its governance. The incident has revived Bihar’s “jungle raj” debate, with voters questioning whether peace and governance can prevail amid violent power struggles. The administration has deployed additional forces as tensions rise ahead of the first phase of polling.
