Assam Floods: Chaos Intensifies As Flood Hits Assam, Affects More Than 2.3 Million | ABP LIVE

Floods have wreaked havoc in Assam, causing widespread devastation and affecting millions. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), floods over the past month have claimed 58 lives and impacted 2.3 million people. The flooding has caused significant distress, damaging buildings and harming animals, leaving hundreds homeless. The Brahmaputra and nine other rivers are flowing above the danger mark in Nematighat, Tezpur, Dhubri, and Goalpara. State Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reported a gradual decrease in the water levels of these rivers. In response to the crisis, the state has established 577 relief camps across 27 districts, sheltering over 526,000 people. Distribution centers for food and other essential assistance have been set up to support those affected. The floods have submerged 3,535 villages and 68,768.5 hectares of crop area, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis. Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Assam today to meet with flood-affected individuals, demonstrating solidarity and support. Following his visit to Assam, he will travel to Manipur to meet with those affected by recent violence.
