Arun Bharti Likely To Contest Bihar Assembly, Mahagathbandhan Seat-Sharing Talks Stalled

ABP News Bureau   |  08 Oct 2025 01:00 PM (IST)

In a significant development ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, LJP MP Arun Bharti may contest the elections from either Sikandra or Raja Pakar constituencies. Arun Bharti, currently representing Jamui in the Lok Sabha, has been authorized by Chirag Paswan to negotiate and coordinate seat-sharing discussions within the NDA alliance. Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan is witnessing complications in finalizing seat allocations. Sources indicate that the RJD has proposed 50-55 seats for the Congress, citing previous poor strike rates, but the Congress is reportedly unsatisfied with this formula. Additionally, Mukesh Sahni, leader of the VIP party, is demanding 35-40 seats, while RJD is willing to offer only 18-20 seats, causing a deadlock. These disagreements have stalled negotiations within the alliance, highlighting the delicate balancing act of accommodating regional allies while maximizing electoral gains. The left parties are also awaiting adjustments in their allocations, given reductions for Congress and the inclusion of VIP demands. Political analysts suggest that these unresolved issues in seat-sharing could impact the overall cohesion and strategy of the Mahagathbandhan, making the next few days crucial for finalizing arrangements before the elections.
