In Detail: The Controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved six bills including the Citizenship Amendment Bill and extended reservation for SCs and STs in the Lok Sabha and the State Assemblies for another 10 years.
The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill or CAB, seeks to make it easier for non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to become citizens of India.
The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill aims at granting Indian citizenship to people from six communities - Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists and Parsis. Knwo in simple terms why the Bill is controversial.
