EXPLAINED | Lakhimpur Kheri case: Why SC made such a strong remark for Yogi Govt?

The Supreme Court has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to protect witnesses in the Lakhimpur violence case. The court today said that the statements of the witnesses should be recorded before the magistrate at the earliest. The court expressed dissatisfaction over the action taken so far by the state government.
