DCW Chief Swati Maliwal says her indefinite hunger strike will continue until culprits are hanged

After the Unnao rape victim succumbed to burn injuries on Friday night, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal said that the rapists should be hanged within a month of the conviction. Maliwal who is currently on a hunger strike protesting against rape incidents in the country, also appealed to the Central government and Yogi Adityanth-led UP government to take some strict action against such crimes. "I appeal to the Uttar Pradesh govt and central govt that the rapists in this case (Unnao rape case) should be hanged within a month. I will continue my huger strike until a strict law is made against the rapists," she said.

After battling for life at Delhi's Safdarjung hospital, the Unnao rape victim who was set ablaze while on her way to a court hearing on Thursday morning, died at 11:40 pm last night.
