Last rites paid to IAF Marshal Arjan Singh

He was the sole Marshal of Indian Air Force who passed away at the Army’s Research and Referral Hospital on Saturday. He was 98 and died of cardiac arrest. Arjan Singh lead the fly-past of more than hundred IAF aircrafts on India’s first Independence Day. In 2002, he was bestowed upon with the honorary rank of Marshal.

Arjan Singh was born on April 15, 1919. He hailed from Lyallpur (Pakistan).

He served as Pilot Officer with Tigers Squadron and then as the Commander with the same.

Pakistan launched Operation Grandslam to cut off Jammu and Kashmir from India. It was a complete military attack in Akhnoor in 1965. Arjan Singh lead the force and crushed Pakistan. Later he revealed that India was fighting against all odds.


For his meritorious services during the 1965 Indo-Pak War, Arjan Singh was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan
