View In AppAs the Maharashtra Assembly elections approach, political tension is escalating. In Aurangabad, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi launched a strong attack on Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Owaisi remarked, “Even if Fadnavis, Modi, and Amit Shah come together, they can’t stand against me.” Owaisi criticized Fadnavis, accusing him of linking Owaisi’s name with ‘jihad’ and religious warfare, and questioned why the Election Commission hasn’t taken action. Owaisi added, “Fadnavis, you’ve bought several MLAs; should you be called a dacoit or something else? Why did you let Maharashtra's projects go to Gujarat? Are you afraid of Modi? Can you even say Jarange Patil’s name, or will you stutter?” In his speech, Owaisi also invoked B.R. Ambedkar, saying, “If Ambedkar lives, then Godse is dead,” referencing the founder of India’s constitution and his opposition to Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi. Speaking in Sambhaji Nagar, he criticized Modi’s ‘unity for safety’ slogan, claiming that justice, not unity alone, ensures India’s safety. “The Constitution brings us respect; as long as Ambedkar’s ideals live, Godse’s legacy is dead.” In the ongoing campaign, Fadnavis and Owaisi have exchanged sharp criticisms. Fadnavis had earlier attacked Owaisi, to which Owaisi responded that Fadnavis’s dream of becoming Chief Minister would fail. He further remarked that the alliance between Eknath Shinde and Fadnavis is on shaky ground.
