Begusarai: Kanhaiya Kumar's mobile torch rally

Kanhaiya Kumar is pitted against Union minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh. Kumar, who was then the JNUSU president, was booked for sedition following complaints that at a gatheringorganized inside the varsity premises in protest against the capital punishment awarded to Parliament attack accused Afzal Guru, anti-India slogans were allegedly raised. Kanhaiya Kumar is a former president of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union. He is also a leader of the All India Students Federation, a left wing students organization which is considered to be close to the Communist Party of India.
