The courts have fined the petitioners 1 lakh each for filing a petition against the sale of liquor and requesting a guideline for it. The court says that these petitions are a waste of time calling it a "publicity stunt". As both, the petitioners turned up without a lawyer to represent them. The first petitioner who presented before Justice Nageshwar Rao, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice B.R. Gavai was Prashant Kumar. According to him, the liquor stores were causing crowds to gather, without any adherence to social distancing which is why all liquor stores must be closed. To which the court said, there have been guidelines issued by the government with regard to social distancing, and the shopkeepers can't keep a check on this. Complains should be given to the administration as it is their duty to check if there is anyone who is not adhering to the social distancing norms.
