The JMM-Congress-RJD alliance won 47 seats, while the BJP saw its number drop from 37 to 25 and its outgoing Chief Minister and some of his ministers lose their own seats. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday ridiculed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for making contradictory statements on NRC and said the people have started giving befitting replies to the BJP's "arrogance and audacity".
