Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, who is on a election campaign to Mizoram, clapped and danced to a famous Mizo song, 'Di Ruk Te', meaning 'secret crush', on a stage in front of a packed audience at Vanapa Hall in state capital Aizawl on Saturday. Popular Mizo singer Sangtei Khuptong sang the song, while Tharoor and state Congress president Lalsawta made a few moves.

Khuptong was invited to sing a song at the public meeting to be addressed by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor for the Aizawl Assembly election on November 7.

Sitting in the first row of the auditorium Tharoor was seen recording her performance on his mobile phone when she started to sing her first song in English.

After Khuptong finished singing and was about to leave the stage, the Congress leader requested her to sing a Mizo song to which she agreed and sang the song 'Di Ruk Te', meaning 'secret crush'.

While Khuptong was singing the song, Tharoor asked her the meaning and she explained it to him and other non-Mizo party officials who were on stage.

"Do you have a secret crush?" Khuptong asked the Parliamentarian after telling him about the song.

"Who would not? Of course, I have," he replied amid a thunder of laughter.

After Khuptong finished singing, Tharoor took the microphone and thanked her for accepting his request of singing a Mizo song.

"You are fabulous. I must say, in 15 years of politics, this is the most fun I have had in a campaign," said the Congress MP amid a thunderous applause from the audience that consisted mainly of youngsters, reported PTI.

Tharoor is on a three-day visit to Mizoram to campaign for party candidates. He will leave the state on Sunday.

The Congress party is fighting in all the 40 constituencies of the state.
