Hyderabad: The Ganesh Festival 2024 ends with the immersion of idols Tuesday, on Anant Chaturdashi. While the 10-day festival was celebrated with much fanfare and enthusiasm across the nation, the celebrations in the Telugu states have been particularly noteworthy. This year, the festivities at Bandlaguda’s Keerthi Richmond Villas once again captured national attention with their grand laddu auction setting a new record.

Every year, the community comes together to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, placing significant importance on each ritual — from idol installations to immersion ceremonies and the much-anticipated laddu auctions. This year was no different, as devotees gathered to bid on the iconic Ganapati laddu, which was sold for an astonishing Rs 1.87 crore.

The auction, held annually, attracts affluent participants who are eager to contribute to the festivities. The Keerthi Richmond Villas auction is known for fetching top prices, and this year's event did not disappoint. The organsiers, however, did not disclose the buyer’s name. Last year, the laddu auction fetched Rs 26 lakh.

Laddu Auctions Common In Telugu States

This is not the first time that the laddu auction at Keerthi Richmond Villas crossed the Rs 1 crore mark. In 2022, the laddu auction reportedly fetched Rs 1.26 crore.

Though the Keerthi Richmond Villas auction consistently pushes the boundaries with prices, laddu auctions are not confined to this society alone.

Recently, an auction at My Home Bhooja in Hi-Tech City saw a laddu being sold for Rs 29 lakh, purchased by businessman Kondapalli Ganesh from Khammam district. This was an increase from the previous year’s auction, when a laddu was sold for Rs 25.5 lakh.

In another instance, in Rangareddy district’s Chevella mandal, local resident Harikishan Reddy secured a Ganesh laddu for Rs 12.16 lakh.
