A video of a man singing a Bhojpuri song while lodged in Bihar's Buxur jail has gone viral on the internet. The prisoner, Kanhaiya Kumar is also getting offers from music industry for his flawless singing. He was recently arrested for drinking alcohol and violating liquor-related laws in Bihar, which has been declared as a dry state.
In the video shared on the micro-blogging site Twitter, Kanhaiya can be seen behind bars wearing a red coloured shirt and singing the hit Bhojpuri number, “Darogaji ho… Sochi-sochi jiya hamro kahe ghabrata…" The song talks about the migration ordeal that rural Bihar is highly impacted by.
The song has gone insanely viral and has been appreciated by several people. One among them is Bollywood singer Ankit Tiwari, who shared the video and offered Kanhaiya a song in his music company.
The video was originally shared by MLA Dr Shalabh Mani Tripathi who also said that he will be given an opportunity to sing at the famous UP’s Trinetra Studio.
"After contacting a former TV colleague @cmohan_pat came to know that this is Kanhaiya, a poor youth of Kaimur, Bihar. Police sent him to jail after getting drunk. After his legal help, efforts will be made to reform him, along with an opportunity to sing at the famous UP’s Trinetra Studio will also be provided," the caption of the post read.
Since being shared, the video has amassed 804.7k views and 1,490 retweets.
"Very good Shalabh bhai. While appreciating this amateur singer I also fell in love with Bhojpuri dialect altho i come from the south of India . The language is so much rooted to our soil. Beautiful indeed!!!" wrote one user on seeing the video.
