In a bizarre incident, a bulldozer demolished toll booths in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district after being asked to pay the toll tax.

The driver allegedly damaged two toll booths leading to a ruckus at the Chhajarsi Toll Plaza on National Highway 9 in Hapur's Pilkhuwa.

The incident took place at around 8:30 am on Tuesday, when the accused, identified as Dheeraj, arrived with a bulldozer at the Chhajarsi Toll Plaza in Hapur.

When the toll worker requested the toll fee, the driver responded rudely and in a fit of anger began vandalizing the toll plaza, causing panic among the workers, who quickly moved away, police said.

A video of the incident has gone viral. While fleeing the scene after the incident, the driver also rammed into a car and two motorcycles while trying to escape, injuring three people.

Soon after the incident, the JCB driver was arrested by the Garhmukteshwar police and sent to jail. The JCB has also been seized.

Earlier, the police had registered a case against the accused under serious sections of the IPC for vandalising the toll plaza with a bulldozer.

According to the police, the accused was in an intoxicated state at the time of the incident. Meanwhile, police have started investigating the matter.

Hapur SP Abhishek Verma said that the accused driver has been arrested. Based on a complaint from the JCB owner, a case has been registered against Dheeraj under serious charges.
