Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Savitri Thakur hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons after she was not able to write the message "beti bachao, beti padhao" correctly on a whiteboard.
The Union Minister was at an event under the 'School Chalo Abhiyan' on Wednesday in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar when she misspelt the slogan, drawing criticism from the Opposition.
In a video that has now gone viral, Thakur mistakenly wrote "Beddi Padao Bachav" on a whiteboard. She serves as the Minister for State for Women and Child Development and is a Lok Sabha member from Dhar.
The Opposition, especially Congress was quick to seize the opportunity to take a jibe at the saffron party and questioned Thakur's educational qualification. Terming it a "misfortune of democracy" senior Congress leader KK Mishra criticised Thakur's literacy.
As per her affidavit, Thakur has studied till class 12.
"How can they be capable of running their ministry?" he was quoted as asking by news agency PTI.

The Congress leader also called for an amendment in the Constitution to fix the minimum educational qualification of candidates in the elections.
"On the one hand, the country's citizens are being claimed to be literate, while on the other hand, there is lack of literacy among the responsible people. So what is the truth? This is an issue related to the system and not to any individual," KK Mishra, media advisor to MP Congress president Jitu Patwari, said.
