Graduation ceremony is always significant for students who look up to the day to receive the honour for their hard work and dedication. But a student from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai almost missed receiving his certificate. That's because he went dancing upto the stage to receive the recognition from the college. The video of NMIMS student Arya Kothari was shared on social media after which it went viral.
Shared on Instagram, Kothari can be seen waiting for his turn to receive his degree from the guests. As soon as his name is announced he starts dancing to the tune of ‘Tenu Leke’ song from Salman Khan’s ‘Salaam-E-Ishq’. The act did not impress one of the dignitaries. A lady immediately reprimanded him and said it was a formal function. Kothari then apologised on stage after whihc he was handed his degree with a warning.
Since being shared, the video has amassed 1,074,472 likes and tons of comments.
"Itna overreact bhi nahi karna chahiye tha teachers ko . Some students are like this also," commented one user on the post.
"Guys chill. Every ceremony in India are treated formally in schools and colleges and kids are treated like criminals in jail where they cant express anything. Graduations all around the world are informal except for the set of addressing and processions. No body died here to be calm and formal. Students completed their course after struggling with their mental health, family issues, personal issues and many more. They earned it and they have the right to celebrate. I can understand why people get frustrated seeing someone happy. You havent got that level of confidence or a stage to be yourself. Sorry about that. But let others live their life without wearing a mask," wrote another user.
While a third wrote, "This is not funny from any angle... This is totally disrespectful to the institution, to the teachers handing you the certificate and also to the program of convocation itself!".
"GenZs think everything they do is cool, there are certain functions where you need to act accordingly, moreover its India, teachers and guests are old AF, they aren't there to vibe with you all," commented a fourth.
