New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is on a visit to Darjeeling in North Bengal, tried her hand at making momos at a stall on Thursday. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

In the video, Mamata Banerjee, who has displayed her culinary skills on several occassions in the past, can be seen preparing the dough and then wrapping it with fillings.

Dressed in a blue and white saree, the TMC supremo can be seen preparing momos, much to the delight of locals. Several people can be seen clicking photos and videos.

Mamata Banerjee also interacted with the momo stall owners, who are members of a self-help group called 'Anju'.

The videos and images on social media saw several "Momo with Mamata" comments from users, reminiscent of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Chai pe Charcha" initiative aimed at connecting with voters ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha election.

The video was shot when the CM went out on a morning walk during her five-day visit to north Bengal. During her visit, Banerjee interacted with several politicians from Gorkha Janmukti Morcha and other local and newly-formed hill parties.

In the past too, she has lent a hand in cooking dishes in roadside eateries. Last year during campaigning for Bengal polls in Nandigram, Mamata Banerjee was seen making tea and serving it to locals. In August 2019, she was seen making tea and serving it to locals in Bengal's Digha.

In 2020, Mamata Banerjee joined tribal women and cooked vegetables during a surprise visit to a tribal village in Birbhum district.
