Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is an active user of Instagram. His page is filled with incredible food-related videos that garner a lot of views and likes. However, there are occasions when he fails to impress his followers. Gordon recently posted a reel on his Instagram page presenting lamb rogan josh with naan that left the netizens unimpressed.
“Introducing the new, fragrant Lamb Rogan Josh from @breadstreetkitchen – served with saffron rice and warm garlic naan!” the caption of the video shared by Ramsay read.
In the video a person is seen putting a few tablespoons of thick gravy in a copper vessel along with some pieces of meat. It is then garnished with chopped coriander leaves and two pieces of naan placed in the bowl.
The netizens did not look impressed with the quantity served and the texture of naan and gravy.
Rogan josh is a popular Kashmiri dish. This lamb curry is made with a blend of aromatic spices and yogurt, which gives it a creamy texture. It is coloured and flavoured primarily by alkanet flower and Kashmiri chillies.
Since being shared, the video has amassed over 1.5 millions views and tons of comments.
"Naan need to be crispy and thinner... This one looks like a bread toast. But no doubt it must be tasty to feature in your menu... But yes it's not naan...," wrote a user.
"Cannot be a naan by any stretch of imagination. Unfortunately the Indian food served in western countries is sub standard as compared to what we serve back home," wrote another user.
"Im sorry to say man. Thats not rogan josh. The cut of the meat is wrong. The gravy is wrong. Even the naan is wrong. Im a big fan but being a kashmiri who cooks and rogan josh being one of the fav dishes. I cant accept that dish. Special the gravy you made. Thats my 2 cents," wrote a third.
"You needa stop white washing our cuisines man. This is nothing close to authentic rogan josh. It don’t gotta be pretty! It has to taste good. Wouldn’t feed it to my worst enemies," wrote a fourth.
