A Chinese camera company launched cash incentives for its employees in a bid to encourage them to date. Insta360, a company in Shenzen, told its employees that it will award them ¥66 or approximately Rs 750 for every valid post made on the internal online dating platform. The company said it intends to promote employee well-being via is dating forum.
If an employee successfully matches with someone via the dating platform and maintains the relationship for at least three months, the company said it will reward both the partners and matchmaker ¥1,000 each.
South China Morning Post quoted a company representative and said that the firm aims to boost an employee’s ‘sense of belonging and overall happiness’ via this move.
Ever since the firm launched the campaign, about 500 posts have been shared and almost ¥10,000 have been disbursed to employees for their matchmaking efforts, reported Moneycontrol. However, the firm is yet to distribute any long-term dating bonuses as the campaign is less than three months old.

The initiative has generated mixed reactions among employees. One of them wittily commented, “My company is more eager than my mum,” while another questioned if distributing monetary incentives is the appropriate way.
Social media users reacted to the news with envy and curiosity, with some wishing to sign up for the program, while others questioning if money is the way to go in case of love.
Notably, China has seen marriage and birth rates decline gradually recently. Official records show that marriages decreased 16.6 per cent during the first three quarters of 2024, in comparison to the same period a year earlier. Birth rates also hit record lows, with just 6.39 births recorded per 1,000 people in 2023, against 6.77 births reported in the previous year.
