British YouTuber Miles Routledge has sparked a row over a series of highly racist posts aimed against Indians. Miles Routledge also said he wanted to launch nuclear missiles at India "just for the heck of it". The 25-year-old 'danger tourist' was in the news a year ago after he was held captive for eight months by the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.
The issue started when an anonymous X user apparently replied to some post by Routledge and said: "I will find you I promise, your apology video will be sweet [sic]." In reply, the British YouTuber said he was at a Toronto train station lounge in Canada. Here's where his racist rants started. Routledge said: "Let me know if you need help getting the visa to find me, Indian," although there was nothing in the message or the user's profile to suggest that s/he was Indian.
The conversation then spiralled into a series of highly inappropriate and racist exchanges by both X users. Routledge posted a screenshot of the conversation with a caption: "Indian threatens to find me, it backfires lmao." He then went on to make a racist comment against Dalits in India in another post, "saying: "He is clearly a Dalit (lowest caste in India), imagine the smell. I love how there are numerous tiers of castes they're proud of but everyone in the world just points and goes "brown" lol [sic]."
In yet another post, he posted an emoji of an Indian flag and posted: "Saar saar i will fight u after my Uber eats shift saar do not redeem a flight out of here [sic]," in a tasteless attempt to belittle Indians.
He posted further: "When I become prime minister of England, I'll open the nuclear silos as an explicit warning to any foreign power that interferes with British interests and affairs. I'm not talking huge incidents, I'm itching to launch and atomize entire nations over the smallest infraction [sic]." "Hell, I might just launch at India just for the sake of it," he added in a post that now seems to have been deleted.
Miles Routledge's posts found support among several "anonymous" users, many of them "verified", who, too, ridiculed India and its citizens. Among the posts, some even cited the Kolkata rape case.
This was not Miles Routledge's only racist rant. He is known for his racist attitude towards Indians. Earlier, he suggested genocide to "solve overpopulation" in India and Africa. "If I was reincarnated, I would like to return as a virus to contribute to humanity by solving the overpopulation in India and Africa," he posted on Sunday. He also complained about "too many Indians in Canada".
In yet another post, he sought a place at someone's house in Montreal, Canada, to stay. However, his condition was: "Don't dare be Indian". A day later, he posted: "At 11 years old, I walked into an Indian restaurant in England and told my mother "why are there so many pakis?" And asked if we can leave. Core memory."
