A late-night cab ride turned into an unexpected adventure for Milind Chandwani, an IIM graduate and founder of Camp Diaries Bengaluru, when he found himself behind the wheel of his own ride at 3 AM. The video shared by Chandwani showed him driving the car while his cab driver was fast asleep in the passenger seat.
Milind Chandwani said, "Last night at 3 AM while returning from Bengaluru airport, I found myself in an unexpected role: my cab driver’s driver. He was so sleepy, he even stopped for tea and a cigarette but still couldn’t keep his eyes open. So, I offered to drive, and to my surprise, he handed me the keys faster than I could say “Bengaluru traffic.”"
Chandwani said that the driver soon reclined his seat and passed out. The bussinessman said: "He (Driver) left me to navigate the city with Google Maps as my co-pilot. Five minutes before we reached, his boss called, and I overheard him asking for a day shift because he couldn’t handle the night shift anymore. I felt a mix of emotions: glad that he trusted me, sad that he had to push himself so hard, and slightly amused at how quickly he decided I was qualified for the job.
Chandwani capped the experience by tipping the driver Rs 100 and jokingly asking for a 5-star rating in return.
"Moral of the story? Life is full of unexpected detours. Be kind, be empathetic, and maybe brush up on your driving skills. You never know when they’ll come in handy. 🚖😂 Most important moral of the story? When you offer something, be ready for the other person to take your offer 🤣"
In his post, Chandwani refrained from naming the cab service to avoid impacting the driver’s livelihood, showcasing his thoughtfulness.
