Incidents of skirmishes and fights between apartment residents and maids have risen in Noida in the last few months. A video has again gone viral on the internet in which one can see a high-rise resident manhandling her house help. The clip posted on the micro-blogging site Twitter shows a woman dragging and pulling her house help of an elevator.
The woman while trying to force her maid out of the elevator is also seen locking her arms tightly around the maid's neck before pulling her arm.
The incident took place in Noida 's Cleo County society in Sector 121. On the complaint filed by the father of the maid, the accused, Shephali Kaul has been booked by officials of Phase 3 police station, ADCP, Central Noida told ANI. The police has promised action on basis of evidence.
According to the victim, Kaul used to tie her up and keep her in the house and also beat her up every day, reported some media outlets.
"Very sad. Guilty should be punished and example to be set," a user tweeted after watching the video.
"This is insane. This woman should be taught a lesson by the law enforcement. No human likes to be treated the way that this worker has been treated by her employer," wrote another user.
"The fact that these elites treat their workers intolerably, looking on them as slaves, while paying them only 2k to 5k per month reveals how castist they are," wrote a third. "Women's commission where are you?" wrote a fourth.
