Sankranti festivities took a grand turn in Yanam as a family hosted their son-in-law with a record-breaking feast featuring 465 varieties of dishes. The elaborate spread was arranged at the residence of prominent businessman Majeti Satyabhaskar to celebrate the first visit of his son-in-law, Saket, after his wedding to Harinya last year.
The feast, described as a Baahubali feast, included a vast array of dishes, showcasing the rich culinary traditions of Andhra Pradesh. A video of the event shows Saket, overwhelmed with joy and shyness, seated in front of the lavish spread as guests and cameras captured the memorable moment.
The Sankranti celebrations at Satyabhaskar’s residence also included traditional Haridas kirtans and a bonfire lit with a 200-foot-long bhogipidakala garland.
Among 470 dishes vegetarian items, pastries, soft drinks, sweets, biscuits, chocolates, fruit juices and others found its place.

In a similar show of affection, Mallikarjun, a resident of Kakinada, received royal treatment from his in-laws in Hyderabad during his first Sankranti visit since his marriage. The elderly couple, Kantri and Kalpana, hosted the event at their residence in Shardanagar, Saroor Nagar, preparing a feast of 130 dishes served on banana leaves. They served a spread featuring a variety of Telangana delicacies, reflecting the region’s rich culinary heritage.
In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, it is a cherished tradition for in-laws to shower sons-in-law with affection, especially during their first visit after marriage. Lavish feasts, featuring an array of regional delicacies, are a common way to celebrate the occasion, symbolising the warmth and hospitality of the families.
