Narsipatnam witnessed an unusual scene after a restaurant issued massive offers for briyani. Recently, Unlimited Multicuisine Restaurant stunned the town by offering chicken biryani for just Rs. 4—not 40, not 400, but a mere four rupees. For biryani lovers, this wasn’t just a deal and they called briyani an emotion.
The organisers announced the offer would last for only two hours—from 10 AM to 12 PM. Soon, word spread like wildfire, and soon hundreds of people queued up outside the restaurant, leading to a chaotic scene.
As part of the offer, the restaurant also said that each individual could purchase only one biryani pack. This further fueled many individuals of the same family to queue for the briyani. Many stood in line for nearly two hours, some accompanied by family members and relatives waited to get their share of the discounted meal. The massive turnout caused a traffic jam in the area bringing vehicles to a standstill.
According to the organisers, over 3,000 packs of biryani were sold during the two-hour promotion marking a huge success for the newly opened restaurant. The overwhelming crowd disrupted normalcy forcing the police to intervene. Officers struggled to manage the situation.
The briyani offer comes just months after a briyani eating contest in Coimbatore gained significant attention attracting food lovers from across Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Held at Pochhe Food Express near Coimbatore Railway Station, the event offered generous cash prizes for participants who could finish a certain amount of biryani within a set time. Promoted through social media, the contest offered Rs. 25,000 for eating 3 servings, Rs. 50,000 for 4 servings, and Rs. 1 lakh for consuming 6 servings. The organizers were taken aback by the overwhelming turnout which was five times higher than expected with participants arriving in turns.
