BJP MLA Eatala Rajender, who was appointed as the chairperson of the party's election management committee in Telangana on Tuesday, stated that he would work to ensure the party's win in the region. He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president J P Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, outgoing Telangana unit president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and other leaders for their confidence in him.

Rajender emphasised his familiarity with the issues faced by Telangana and pledged to sincerely fulfill his assigned role. He also mentioned that he would cooperate with G Kishan Reddy, the newly appointed state unit president of the BJP and Union Tourism Minister.

Rajender highlighted that the BJP, under the leadership of Sanjay Kumar, emerged victorious in two Assembly by-polls, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) election, and the Legislative Council poll in the past couple of years. He further noted that either BJP or Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) won in the recent polls but not Congress.

Rajender expressed his belief that only the BJP can defeat the ruling BRS party and said that the people would benefit if the BJP emerged victorious.

Eatala Rajender had left the BRS and joined the BJP in 2021 after being dropped from the Cabinet by CM KCR over allegations of land encroachment. Rajender had also resigned from Assembly and won as MLA on the BJP ticket in a by-poll.

On Tuesday, the BJP announced the appointment of Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy as the party president for Telangana state. Additionally, they appointed former Union Minister Daggubati Purandeswari as the new party president for Andhra Pradesh.

The change of guard in Telangana came as a part of BJP central leadership’s exercise to galvanise its units in poll-bound States. Kishan Reddy, one of the senior most leaders of the BJP in Telangana, replaced Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the Karimnagar MP.

Daggubati Purandeswari, who joined the BJP in 2014, is the daughter of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder, N. T. Rama Rao. Purandeswari replaced Somu Veerraju as the state party president.
