Hyderabad: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma slammed his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao for asking evidence from the Centre for the surgical strikes carried out in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in September 2016. During a press conference on Sunday, Rao backed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for demanding proof of surgical strikes.
Sarma stated on Twitter on Monday "Dear KCR garu, here is the videographic evidence of the surgical strike by our brave army. In spite of this you question the valour of our Armed forces and insult them. Why are you so desperate to attack and malign our Army? New India will not tolerate insults against our Army."
Speaking at the press conference on Sunday KCR said, "There is nothing wrong with Rahul Gandhi asking for proof of surgical strikes. What's the problem with that? Even I am demanding, now."
"Allow the Indian government to demonstrate its point. The Centre is in charge of this. There are apprehensions among the public. The BJP spreads incorrect information. That is why so many people are requesting proof. You are not a monarch in a democracy. In his capacity as an AICC leader and MP, Rahul Gandhi is right in demanding proof for surgical strike," KCR took a dig at PM Modi.
Telangana BJP Chief Bandi Sanjay calls KCR a 'traitor'
State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, speaking during a public meeting, questioned KCR why should a Chief Minister asked this when it was admitted even by Pakistani authorities?
"PM Modi has explained on multiple occasions how Pakistani officials were briefed about the strike's damage and casualties before the Indian media learned of it," he claimed.
Sanjay Kumar said that the CM's comments would diminish the Indian Army's morale.
